At Kaiser Permanente San Diego, we are committed to fostering inclusive excellence and creating a sense of belonging for all who aspire to join the field of Emergency Medicine. Our goal is to support medical students who share our dedication to compassionate, culturally responsive care for the diverse communities we serve.

As part of this mission, we will award one rising fourth-year medical student a guaranteed four-week sub-internship rotation and a $1,000 scholarship to help offset the costs of completing an Emergency Medicine away rotation. This scholarship is open to applicants who demonstrate a commitment to advancing health equity and improving care for patients from all backgrounds.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome applications from students who are passionate about providing care to patients across all cultural, religious, sexual, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.

  • Open to all U.S. allopathic and osteopathic students entering their graduating year of medical school and planning to match in Emergency Medicine.

  • Applicants must be in good academic standing with their institution.

  • Students should demonstrate prior engagement in efforts to improve healthcare delivery and promote inclusion for historically marginalized or underserved communities.

  • Submit the completed application via our google form (or scan the QR code below and complete on a mobile device).

  • If you are not able to login to the Google form / do not have a Gmail account, you may send this completed application and a copy of your CV to kpemresidency@kp.org.

 
 

Application Requirement and Deadline

  • Applications are closed for the 2025 season.

  • The next application season will open late December/January and applications will be due by the second week of February, 2026. The scholarship recipient will be selected and notified prior to VSLO applications opening.

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
